Joining the Junior School

Welcome to the Junior School

We are delighted that your child will be joining us at the Junior School, and we look forward to getting to know them and you over the next four years.

We understand that this year has been difficult in terms of preparing for a change of schools, but we will be doing all we can to make sure your child's experience of the transition to their new school is as smooth and straightforward as possible.

Our Year 3 team have been in regular contact with the Year 2 staff to start to learn about their new classes, and hopefully you will have been able to take part in one of our online 'Meet the Teacher' sessions. There will be more opportunities for this kind of meeting in the autumn term as well.

If you have any concerns or worries do not hesitate to contact me, and I will be happy to try and help. My email address is roy.souter@stokehill.devon.sch.uk

With very best wishes

3G will be taught by Mrs Gribble
3T will be taught by Mrs Twitchin

The first day

Where to drop your child off and where to pick them up
The children need to be dropped off outside their classroom. There will be someone on the pathway to show you where to go. They will then need to be picked up from the same place at the end of the school day.

What they need to bring with them
The only thing the children need to bring to school is a packed lunch box (if they are not having school dinners) and their PE kit. They do not need to bring anything  else, as all of the stationery they need will be provided for them.

School dinners
If your child would like to order school dinners they just need to tell their teacher when the register is taken at the start of the day. There are no vouchers or tokens - you need to top up your online account as you go along. Details of how to do this will be sent to you by ParentMail.

Timings
The current normal school day timings may change due to Covid requirements.
As things stand:
8.30am Doors to the classroom open
8.40am The school day starts and the register is taken
3.05pm The end of the school day
