23rd June 2022 - Devon Cricket Finals

After their successes in the initial stage, our boys' and girls' cricket teams from year 5 and 6 headed off to the Devon Finals at Exeter University Cricket Ground.  The boys were runners up with a very close final score and the girls finished in third place.  Some fantastic cricket was played and the whole tournament was enjoyed by all those involved.
May/June 2022 - #skiptothegames challenge

Over the last 7 weeks the Junior School have been skipping, skipping, skipping!  We have been taking part in the Devon Virtual Games Event which has involved skipping 340,000 steps - the equivalent of skipping the 170 miles from Devon to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.  Our final total is just over 400,000 skips!

28th May 2022 - EFL KIDS Cup Final

After what has been an amazing run, winning two tournaments on the way, the school football team finally got to experience the dream of every footballer by getting the chance to play at Wembley Stadium.

The team travelled up on Friday with Mr McKimm, Mr Sullivan and Callum Shipton from Exeter City, who the school were representing. After checking into the hotel everyone then took the short walk up to Wembley Stadium to take in the surroundings.  The team had a walk around the outside of the stadium, had a football quiz under the shadow of the famous Wembley Arch and took the opportunity take lots of pictures and videos.  Eventually, after a long day, it was back to the hotel to get ready for the big game the next day.

The following morning, we were met by members of the English Football League who then took the team on the walk to Wembley again.  After more photos and videos, everyone got to experience an amazing tour of the Stadium. This began with being shown our own dressing room before seeing the main ones used by England and teams playing in finals.  After walking out of the player's tunnel and touring the pitch, we then got the opportunity to make the famous climb up to the Royal Box. A walk through the media area followed before ending up in the press conference room where the team were able to play the role of the media and ask tough questions to the teachers!

It was finally time to return to the dressing room and get ready for the game.  The boys were very excited when they saw all their kit laid out for them and their names on the official teamsheets.  A visit from ex-England international, Matthew Upson, followed and then it was time for the game.

Whilst hearing the wonderful support from the families who had travelled up, the team walked out to the pitch whilst their names appeared on the huge scoreboards and were read out over the PA system. Once the game started, however, the boys full focus was on the game.

We started well but St. George's Primary, representing Tranmere Rovers, created the better chances in the first half.  At half-time it was 0-0 and the game was wide open. Early in the second half though, St. George's took the lead and we knew we needed take more chances to get back into the game. Whilst it was still 1-0, we created our best two chances of the game but were unable to equalise. As we continued to try and push forward it did leave us more open to counter attacks and this resulted in a second goal for St. George's. Two more late goals for them gave them a deserved victory, although the final scoreline of 4-0 was harsh.

Despite the disappointment of the result, it was an incredible experience and has created lifelong memories for all involved. The team can look back on the day and the season they have had with great pride and they will be remembered at the school for a very long time.

The team of Ollie, Jack, Ben K, Luca, Tom, Harley, Ben G and Leo were, once again, a real credit to the school with their attitude and sportsmanship, as much as their play.  Everybody within the Federation are extremely proud of the way the team have represented the school this year and for all they have achieved.

23rd March 2022 - Devon Netball Finals

Following their success last month, the netball team from Year 6 had the opportunity to play against teams from across Devon at the multi-sports hub in Paignton.  The children played brilliantly and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  They came 7th place in their group.

28th-30th March 2022 – Classroom to 3k

Following 10 weeks of training, the whole school took part in this event. Each year group had a set time to complete as many laps as they could around our track; some children ended up running twice the distance!  Our Sports Ambassadors did a fantastic job helping each session to run smoothly.  The children were very proud to receive a medal on completion.  We hope it has given some of our children the ‘running bug’!

25th March 2022 – Killerton Cross Country

32 children from across the school took part in a Cross Country event at Killerton.  Both our Year 3 and 4 teams finished 1st  The year 5 and 6 boys’ team and girls’ team finished 1st and 2nd respectively.  It was a great day with fantastic results!

We're on our way to Wembley!

8th March 2022 - EFL KIDS Cup

Our school football team achieved the incredible as they won the League 2 South Region KIDS Cup and will now live every footballer's dream of playing at Wembley Stadium.

The team, who were representing Exeter City as well as the school after winning the Exeter City KIDS Cup previously, left the school residential for the day and travelled up to Swindon for the tournament.

They began with five tough group games in Group A, beating Forest Green Rovers, Crawley Town and Northampton Town, drawing with the hosts Swindon Town and narrowly losing to Colchester United.  This meant they finished with 10 points and topped the group on goal difference, meaning they advanced to the semi-finals where they met Walsall.

It was a tough game and the team had to dig deep to to earn a 2-0 win and a place in the final.

In the final against Bristol Rovers, a goal in the first half by Harley was enough to win the game 1-0, win the tournament and earn their place at Wembley Stadium in the League 2 final against North Region winners, Tranmere Rovers.

The team of Ollie, Jack, Ben K, Luca, Tom, Harley and Ben G were, again, a real credit to the school with their attitude and sportsmanship, as much as their play.  Their team work is fantastic and has earned this amazing opportunity.  The Federation couldn't be prouder of what they have achieved so far.
1st February 2022 - Netball Tournament

A team from Year 6 were up against 6 other teams from schools across Exeter.  The Stoke Hill children played brilliantly, all managing to score at least one goal.  They won 4 out of their 6 games and came 2nd out of 7 teams.  A highlight was their 9-0 win!

Spring Term 2022 - Classroom to 3k

All children at the Junior School are currently undertaking a 10-week training programme for our upcoming 'Classroom to 3k' event.  We are seeing fantastic progress and enthusiasm from the children as they clock up their laps round our newly resurfaced track each week!  Watch this page for more details on this event.
6th January 2022 - EFL KIDS Cup

We are extremely proud to be able to say that we are the EFL KIDS Cup Champions for Exeter!

The 6-a-side tournament, which is run by Exeter City as part of a national English Football League competition, was held at Exeter University and our team were one of twenty-one present.

We started in Group 4 against Exeter School, Topsham and West Cliff and the team quickly adapted to the different rules in this format, as well as the cold and wet weather!  An impressive 5-1 win over Exeter School was then followed by two more convincing wins, 7-0 against Topsham and 6-0 versus West Cliff.

After winning our group, we then faced Wynnstream in the quarter finals.  It was a tough game, which we eventually won 3-0.

The semi-finals were next and an excellent performance saw us record another 6-0 win, this time against Clyst Heath.  Before the final, the team got chance to watch a penalty shoot out in the other semi-final, where our opponents for the final St. Nicholas overcame Exeter School.

We started the final a little nervously and Oli had to make a couple of good saves when it was still 0-0.  After that, we slowly began to take more control of the game and deservedly took the lead.  We then built on this lead with two more goals in quick succession, before St. Nicholas scored a late consolation, leaving us as
3-1 winners and Champions of the tournament.

The team of Oli, Jack, Ben K, Luca, Tom, Harley and Ben G played some fantastic football and were a real credit to the school with their attitude and sportsmanship, as much as their play.

As winners, we now move onto the next stage where will be representing Exeter City at a regional EFL tournament, with the opportunity to move on to the finals at Wembley Stadium.
Tag Rugby Club

We are excited to have the Exeter Chiefs community coaches starting a new Tag Rugby club.

The club is being run for years 5-6 for five weeks, before switching to years 3-4 for another five weeks.

The club has proved popular and we hope to offer further opportunities later in the school year.

Dance Club

Dance club is now up and running again and has proved very popular.

Around thirty year 5s have signed up for the programme being run by a qualified dance teacher.

We are looking forward to watching the final performance after seeing the dances our year 6s created last year when the instructor came into work with them.

Gymnastics Club

The ever popular Gymnastics club is continuing.

We are delighted to see around thirty children of varying ages taking part in a programme that can lead to a British Gymnastics grading.

15th November 2021 - Exeter Primary Football League

This week saw the long-awaited return to league action as this year's team headed to St. Peter's for our opening two Group B matches.

A fantastic team performance saw us run out 12-1 winners in our first match against Stoke Canon. The goals in this dominant display were scored by Harley (2), Jack (2), Amir (2), Luca (2), Leo (2), Tom and Ben K.  Despite the one-sided scoreline, the game was played in the right spirit by both teams.

The second match against Broadclyst Blue was a much closer game and the team had to show their battling qualities against a tough opponent.  We created the better chances and were eventually rewarded when Jack scored the winner in the second half to clinch a 1-0 win.  Ben G helped to lead the defensive effort and Oliver kept his first clean sheet.

Mr McKimm was very impressed with the standard of the teamwork and how well they adapted to two very different games.
