Welcome to Reception
'Reception' is the name of the first year of school for your child.
The Early Years of Education are the foundation for children’s future development, providing a strong base for lifelong learning and learning abilities, including cognitive and social development.

We work hard to build positive and respectful relationships with the children, their families and their community – working in partnership to ensure all children are confident, happy, self-assured and successful.

Click on the link/blue bars below and take a look at the photo stories and take a peep inside our school.
What can you see? Where do you think you would like to explore?
Talk to your grown up about starting school and come back and have a look again at anytime!
The Early Years Foundation Stage
A new statutory Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum was implemented in England from September 2021 for children aged 3-5.
At Stoke Hill we are embracing the wonderful opportunity to develop and enhance our early years curriculum. More details will follow in the Autumn term, but please do take a look at this document as it provides information about the changes for parents and carers.
Some Exciting Developments in the Early Years
Clare Farion who currently teaches and leads the Nursery will be taking over as the Early Years Leader from September.
She will be working with the team to develop and enhance the learning environment throughout the early years.
Each learning space in Reception will have a clear identity and a new name as well as the class name. The Dragonfly class will also be the studio, Bee class will also be the workshop and Ladybird class will also be the nest.
Watch this space for more information and images!
