Year 1 Remote Learning W.B. 22.02.21

Hello from your Teachers! ~

Hello Year 1,

We hope you had a great half-term and are ready to get back to some learning! This week there is no activity book so please make use of the resources on this page to help you with your project learning.

We know that learning at home can still be tricky and that you are all working at being 'resilient'.

Did you watch the clip last week of Hugo choosing ways to stay calm when he felt a bit cross with his learning? Watch the clip of Hugo again if you like and perhaps use the breathing boards to trick your brain into feeling calm through special breathing.

Did you know when you breathe regularly and mindfully your brain gets the message to chill out and relaxes so that you can feel calm and happy!

From Mrs Kenney, Mrs Carthew, Miss Brooks and Miss Lavis ~

Project 1 & 2 - Science
Did you know that a dinosaur is a reptile that became extinct 65,000,000 years ago!  For this week's remote learning can you write down a few sentences about what you already know about dinosaurs.  Then have a look at the PowerPoint below.  You could have a go at drawing your favourite dinosaur!
Project 2 - Design and Technology
This week in design and technology we will be using split pins and sliders to create a dinosaur egg.  You will need some paper or card, scissors and a split pin.  Follow the instructions below and watch your baby dinosaur come to life!
Music and Movement
It is really important to keep moving while you cannot go outside as much and what better way to do this than to music.  Follow the links below for some dinosaur dancing!
This half term our learning in R.E. is titled 'Why does Easter Matter to Christians?'

Did you know that signs of spring link to Christian ideas of new life?

Look around for examples of the new life that is coming with the spring.

Enjoy drawing a 'spring picture' to include new spring life such as a lamb, a chick, frogspawn, daffodils... I wonder what else you will include?

Below are some links to keep your child moving.
Online safety
Please make sure you know how to stay safe online by watching the video and then talk and answer the questions with your teacher or grown up.
This week's video is about staying safe when sharing pictures or videos online.
