The whole Junior School took part in our PE Curriculum Day.  The children had the opportunity to use the gymnastics equipment, play hockey and tennis and use a wide variety of athletics equipment on our tracks and field.  They were also able to research and watch inspiring sportspeople in action.  On what turned out to be a very hot day, the children really made the most of these activities and it was enjoyed by all.  A highlight for many was a tug-o-war competition!

May 2023 - Exeter Primary Football League

After a long hard football season, with many matches over several Monday evenings, our school team won themselves a bronze medal for their efforts. There have been many children who have taken the opportunity to represent the school this year. Finishing third in the league meant a quarter final against Woodbury, which despite their best efforts, saw us lose 2-0 after extra time. Well done to all.

March 2023 - Classroom to 4k

Following many weeks of training, the Junior school took part in this event. Each year group had a set time to complete as many laps as they could around our track; some children got all the way up to 4k!  The children cheered each other on, creating a lovely atmosphere and our Sports Ambassadors helped out with each session.  Once again, the children received a medal on completion.

March 2023 - Netball Tournament

Our netball teams played brilliantly at the tournament held at St Luke's.  Great performances and fantastic teamwork secured them 4th and 7th place out of the 10 teams taking part.  A special well done to Jack who was presented with a medal by the organisers for his 'determination' in the matches!
A fantastic experience for these Year 6 children.
March 2023 - ECFC Women's Match

Over 100 Stoke Hill family members watched Exeter City Women’s team beat Portishead Town 6-0 on 12th March at St James Park.  A fantastic afternoon out enjoyed by all!  Thanks to ECFC for the free tickets for our children.

Exeter Primary Football League

Our school football team continued their League season with games against Wynstream and Trinity in Group A.

A strong first half showing against the current group leaders, Wynstream Blue, saw us go in at half-time 0-0 and unfortunate not to have the lead. Wynstream Blue then showed why they are leading the group in the second half and eventually we were beaten 3-1.

In our second game, against Trinity, we dominated the first half and were unlucky to only be 2-0 up at the break.  Trinity came back into the game in the second half and pulled a goal back, before we scored a third to secure a deserved 3-1 win.

We currently sit third in the group after six games with three wins and three losses.

All children at the Junior School are currently undertaking a 10-week training programme for our upcoming 'Classroom to 4k' event.  We are seeing fantastic progress and enthusiasm from the children as they clock up their laps round our track each week!  Watch this page for more details on this event.

Stoke Hill at Wembley

28th May 2022 - EFL KIDS Cup Final

After what has been an amazing run, winning two tournaments on the way, the school football team finally got to experience the dream of every footballer by getting the chance to play at Wembley Stadium.

The team travelled up on Friday with Mr McKimm, Mr Sullivan and Callum Shipton from Exeter City, who the school were representing. After checking into the hotel everyone then took the short walk up to Wembley Stadium to take in the surroundings.  The team had a walk around the outside of the stadium, had a football quiz under the shadow of the famous Wembley Arch and took the opportunity take lots of pictures and videos.  Eventually, after a long day, it was back to the hotel to get ready for the big game the next day.

The following morning, we were met by members of the English Football League who then took the team on the walk to Wembley again.  After more photos and videos, everyone got to experience an amazing tour of the Stadium. This began with being shown our own dressing room before seeing the main ones used by England and teams playing in finals.  After walking out of the player's tunnel and touring the pitch, we then got the opportunity to make the famous climb up to the Royal Box. A walk through the media area followed before ending up in the press conference room where the team were able to play the role of the media and ask tough questions to the teachers!

It was finally time to return to the dressing room and get ready for the game.  The boys were very excited when they saw all their kit laid out for them and their names on the official teamsheets.  A visit from ex-England international, Matthew Upson, followed and then it was time for the game.

Whilst hearing the wonderful support from the families who had travelled up, the team walked out to the pitch whilst their names appeared on the huge scoreboards and were read out over the PA system. Once the game started, however, the boys full focus was on the game.

We started well but St. George's Primary, representing Tranmere Rovers, created the better chances in the first half.  At half-time it was 0-0 and the game was wide open. Early in the second half though, St. George's took the lead and we knew we needed take more chances to get back into the game. Whilst it was still 1-0, we created our best two chances of the game but were unable to equalise. As we continued to try and push forward it did leave us more open to counter attacks and this resulted in a second goal for St. George's. Two more late goals for them gave them a deserved victory, although the final scoreline of 4-0 was harsh.

Despite the disappointment of the result, it was an incredible experience and has created lifelong memories for all involved. The team can look back on the day and the season they have had with great pride and they will be remembered at the school for a very long time.

The team of Ollie, Jack, Ben K, Luca, Tom, Harley, Ben G and Leo were, once again, a real credit to the school with their attitude and sportsmanship, as much as their play.  Everybody within the Federation are extremely proud of the way the team have represented the school this year and for all they have achieved.
